Abstract

This study aimed at identifying the existence of an association between the dimensions of Burnout and the job characteristic in college teachers. For the research, the following instruments were used: the MBI - Maslach Burnout lnventory, and the subscale of Job Characteristic of the JDS - Job Diagnostic Survey. The sample was made of 280 teachers. The results showed the negative association between the dimension of Emotional Exhaustion and Job Characteristic. The Emotional Exhaustion showed an association with ldentification with the Task and with the Job's Autonomy and Motivational Potential. The depersonalization was associated with Meaning and ldentification with the Task and with the Job's Autonomy and Motivational Potential. The same occurred with the association between Low Professional Fulfillment and Task Meaning, Autonomy, Job Feedback and Motivational Potential
