CHAMON, Edna Maria Querido de Oliveira. Stress and coping strategies: toulousaine scale in Brazil. Rev. Psicol., Organ. Trab. [online]. 2006, vol.6, n.2, pp. 43-64. ISSN 1984-6657.

The purpose of this paper is to evaluate stress and coping strategies in two workers group: the first one is composed by health workers from a Hospital in the State of São Paulo, Brazil and the second one by bank workers from Vale do Paraiba region, in São Paulo, Brazil. We use the Toulousaine Stress Scale (ETS - Echelle Toulousaine de Stress) and the Toulousaine Coping Scale (ETC - Echelle Toulousaine de Coping), which was developed within a social and psychological framework, with low emphasis in stress physiological aspects. These tools enable a multidimensional characterization of stress and coping phenomena. The results show a stress level below the Brazilian average for the health workers group, with high level of negative coping (refuse dimension), higher than Brazilian average. The bank workers group presents a mix of high stress level, low level positive coping strategies, and high level negative coping strategies indicating a poor stress management
