Abstract

This is a tour of different perspectives of studies and research on leadership and entrepreneurship. The text outlines, briefly, the main paths followed by researchers from various cultures and their contributions to this theme. Some of these subjects, such as virtues and organizational virtuousness were previously absent from the literature on management and organizational behavior, and neglected as well in the academic and business worlds. This includes contributions to the discussion on the theory of entrepreneurship, and its empirical implications; the extent to which culture influences effective leadership in today's organizations and how successful international research projects are designed to understand the intercultural behavior of leaders and entrepreneurs. Leadership and entrepreneurship are also addressed within the conceptual and critical debate, in academia and in institutions, concerning the impacts of economic globalization, international relations, and transcultural reality. At the organization level, the thematic is related to the influence of organizational factors, such as commitment. Further consideration is given to the literature that deals with leadership and entrepreneurship from the point of view of functioning work teams, which have an increasingly key role in the efficacy of organizations, and in which the leader is a crucial factor. In summary, it is possible to conclude that all the studies dealing with leadership and entrepreneurship considered for the present work are related to clarifying and delimiting the concepts, in the organizational context, in a theoretical and applied perspective with an emphasis on their cultural nature.
