The senses and the meanings of social management in the development of territories can be understood contemporarily when the territory is considered as the source and destination of action. For whom is it done, where, how, and when is it done, who are the social managers, what are the profiles and formative designs of these managers, are questions that frame this text, which is based on the experience of a programme for training social managers.
