Abstract

BRANT, Sandra Regina Corrêa  and  BORGES-ANDRADE, Jairo Eduardo. Beliefs in the context of work: features of the national and foreign research. Rev. Psicol., Organ. Trab. [online]. 2014, vol.14, n.3, pp. 292-302. ISSN 1984-6657.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the Brazilian and foreign research undertaken with the variable "beliefs in the context of work". The method included the systematic analysis of scientific journals from the Business Administration and Psychology areas. Both research efforts converge in their methodological aspects. Quantitative studies prevail, with a cross-sectional design, conducted at the individual level. The national production is very scarce and characterized by a unique sequential logic, in which a single study formed the basis of 45% of all research reports. Outside Brazil, there is a diversity of belief objects which are investigated within the context of work. However, there is no accumulation of research on the variables that may be antecedents and consequences of such beliefs. These results suggest that further research efforts are required to clarify the role that beliefs play in the organizational context. These may, in the future, constitute a promising way to organizational intervention.

Keywords : Beliefs; work; object of beliefs; organizational behavior.
