Abstract

AMBIEL, Rodolfo A. M. et al. Career Counseling and vocational guidance: analysis of an international journal. Rev. Psicol., Organ. Trab. [online]. 2014, vol.14, n.4, pp. 407-416. ISSN 1984-6657.

Analysis of scientific production, in certain areas of knowledge, can be considered an essential activity for scientific development, specifically with regard to scientific journals. This study aimed to analyze the scientific production on Career and Vocational Guidance, from an international journal with high impact, the Journal of Vocational Behavior, based on the review of articles published in a quinquennium (2007-2011), examining authorship, keywords, themes, methodological design, and characteristics of the samples. Overall, 403 articles were analyzed, and the data reveal the predominance of U.S. publications and a lack of studies from South America. We discuss the different perspectives in Career Counseling and Vocational Guidance, and the need for internationalization of Brazilian studies. Lastly, it is emphasized that the present study was restricted to a single medium of scientific publication, and therefore does not exhaust the possibilities for investigating articles.

Keywords : vocational guidance; scientific research; occupations.
