Abstract

BORGES, Livia de Oliveira. Should we be for or against the junior enterprises in psychology?. Rev. Psicol., Organ. Trab. [online]. 2014, vol.14, n.4, pp. 481-488. ISSN 1984-6657.

The text analyzes the positions against and in favor of junior enterprises (JEs) as pedagogical tools for universities. Thus, it is a discussion paper on opposing viewpoints. It begins with the importance of academic debate to strengthen and sustain the activities of knowledge production and social criticism at universities. Both viewpoints have a recognized interest in improving the quality of higher education in Psychology. The augments for these viewpoints were considered according to the central themes of the differences. Finally, the text presents some proposals for consideration regarding JEs, such as: what might they contribute to the concrete application of values upheld in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights; the adoption of evaluation systems for services provided by the JEs; more complete information about what the JEs really are; and taking a position not to oppose the JEs as an alternative activity, but differentiating the quality of the actions of each one.

Keywords : Professional field; junior enterprises; superior education; professional practice; critic formation; ethic.
