Abstract

MORO, Cibele Vargas Machado  and  AMADOR, Fernanda Spanier. The work of management: notes on power and subjectivity. Rev. Psicol., Organ. Trab. [online]. 2015, vol.15, n.2, pp. 201-211. ISSN 1984-6657.  http://dx.doi.org/10.17652/rpot/2015.2.511.

This paper aims to undertake an analysis of the possible conditions that contributed to the emergence of the job of administration - or management - as we know it today. Adopting the perspective of Social Psychology, we focus our attention on the strict relationship between the formation of management and the diverse strategies that articulate power and subjectivity, especially in the field of labor, through different practices. Based on a literature review regarding the changes in labor, especially in the last two centuries, we discuss how the manager's job was formed, aimed initially towards the disciplining and docilization of workers and, more recently, toward control of oneself and others through a permanent subjective mobilization towards the constitution of the entrepreneurial subject. We conclude by pointing out issues that, based on the discussion undertaken, can contribute to the field of research on management, discussing the modes of working in the current context.

Keywords : Management; work; subjectivity; power.
