Resumen

PORTZ, Renata Moschen  y  AMAZARRAY, Mayte Raya. Common mental disorders and associated factors in bank workers in Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Rev. Psicol., Organ. Trab. [online]. 2019, vol.19, n.1, pp. 515-522. ISSN 1984-6657.  http://dx.doi.org/10.17652/rpot/2019.1.13326.

The restructuring of banking activities over the years has modified the work context and intensified illness in this occupational category. The present study investigated the association between mental suffering of bank employees and their work context, through the analysis of Common Mental Disorders (CMD) and their associated factors. Study participants included 1,117 bank employees from Rio Grande do Sul. The prevalence of CMD in the sample was 49.7%. Data indicate high psychological distress in the banking occupation, showing that topics such as the perception of negative interference of work in other areas of life (PR = 4.47), exposure to conflicts (PR = 1.61), the existence of individualism and professional disputes in the workplace (PR = 1.86) are closely related to this distress, being factors linked to Common Mental Disorders. They also demonstrate the link between socio-professional relations and the prevalence of Common Mental Disorder in the banking occupation.

Palabras clave : occupational health; working environment; mental disorders.
