Abstract

CORTEZ, Pedro Afonso; VEIGA, Heila Magali da Silva; GOMIDE, Ana Paula de Ávila  and  SOUZA, Marcus Vinícius Rodrigues de. Suicide at work: review of brazilian literature in psychology. Rev. Psicol., Organ. Trab. [online]. 2019, vol.19, n.1, pp. 523-531. ISSN 1984-6657.  http://dx.doi.org/10.17652/rpot/2019.1.14480.

Suicide at work is relevant due to its impact on the reality of individuals and organizations. However, despite the relevance and much research about the phenomenon, there is no literature review in the Brazilian context on the subject. For this reason, we reviewed research about suicide at work through studies produced in the national literature. A total of 17 papers published between 1998 and 2017 were analyzed, which were found using the descriptors "suicide" and "work" with the BVS Psi database. The results showed the predominance of qualitative and theoretical studies and the lack of a research agenda that allows the area to propose organizational practices, public policies, and legislation on the subject. Thus, there is a need for the development of broader, empirical, and longitudinal studies on the different levels related to the phenomenon: individual, organizational, and societal.

Keywords : suffering; suicide; labor; work organization; working conditions.
