Career development is a complex process that requires, among other things, adapting responses. Few instruments bring together in the same measure different dimensions of the career development of university students in the transition to work. This research aimed to construct and analyze the psychometric characteristics of the Career Development Scales for University Students, as well as to test the adjustment of the scales in a second order model designed Adapting Responses. For the psychometric analyzes, 1057 university students were divided into two independent samples. The instrument presented an internal structure with 31 items, subdivided into five dimensions that measure career identity, career decision, expanded exploration, professional self-efficacy and professional locus of control, which fit into the Adapting Responses model. It was concluded that the measure has adequate evidence of validity, recommending its use for future research and career counseling.

Palabras clave : adaptability; professional development; college students.
