Resumen

PRADO, Karynne; SANT'ANNA, Anderson de Souza  y  DINIZ, Daniela Martins. Meanings of work in different occupational nursing pathways: a case study. Rev. Psicol., Organ. Trab. [online]. 2021, vol.21, n.1, pp. 1345-1354. ISSN 1984-6657.  http://dx.doi.org/10.5935/rpot/2021.1.20315.

The objective of the study was to investigate the meanings of work attributed by nursing professionals from their different professional trajectories. The meaning of work was investigated based on the approach proposed by Morin (2008) and Morin and Cherré (1999), comprising analysis of factors such as social utility, opportunity for development, relationship, autonomy, recognition, and moral rectitude. A qualitative study was carried out involving the application of questionnaires and interviews with nurses who experienced different occupational trajectories, including the use of a projective image technique. The results reveal that nurses give meaning to work in a multifaceted way depending on the professional trajectory they experience. However, there is a broad consensus regarding some subjective factors that influence the way they understand their profession, particularly the social impact of a nurse's work, the development opportunities, the importance of systemic recognition, and moral rectitude in the exercise of the profession.

Palabras clave : nursing; senses of work; career; occupational trajectories.
