NOGUEIRA, Lucas Castro; NEPOMUCENO, Luciana Holanda  e  SIQUEIRA, Elisabete Stradiotto. Trans women in Mossoró's labor market. Rev. Psicol., Organ. Trab. [online]. 2022, vol.22, n.2, pp. 2047-2055. ISSN 1984-6657.  http://dx.doi.org/10.5935/rpot/2022.2.22870.

The present study discusses the inclusion and permanence of trans women in the labor market. Utilizing semi-structured interviews, our research comprehended reports of five trans women who work in the city of Mossoró - RN. The data acquired were analyzed through the content analysis method and our results pointed out that trans women still face difficulties while trying to achieve formal jobs. The interviewees had all graduated from high school , however, only one of them has entered university. Family support and level of education may have influenced a more favorable market reality than for most trans people. The sense of working is perceived as a guarantee of survival, not as a matter of learning, individual development, or even personal satisfaction. Narratives and reports of symbolic harassment stand out inside the daily market. Although none of the interviewees reported facing explicit physical aggressions or verbal attacks in their working environment, they were subjected to jokes, laughing, and hateful speeches.

Palavras-chave : trans women; labor market; Mossoró - RN.
