Abstract

BARROS, Cesar. José Resende and psychoanalysis: the sculpture revisited between stability and instability. Rev. Psicol. UNESP [online]. 2013, vol.12, n.2, pp. 42-49. ISSN 1984-9044.

This article proposes a reading of contemporary sculpture, focused on the work of Brazilian artist José Resende. The starting point is the book of the English critic Peter Fuller, “Art and Psychoanalysis” (1980), which studies the question of the permanence of art objects. How can we continue to admire works that are distant centuries of our reality? This question is being renewed encounter with artwork, even if they are contemporary. We consider that the proposed Fuller approaches the methodological perspective presented by Fields Theory allows us to understand how certain work demands to be read, creating an opening for the contribution of psychoanalysis. This discussion has reference to the work of Resende who question the usual parameters we have for your reading.
