Abstract

Neuropsychological rehabilitation in a case of motor efferent/afferent aphasia. Neuropsicologia Latinoamericana [online]. 2013, vol.5, n.spe, pp. 14-21. ISSN 2075-9479.  http://dx.doi.org/10.5579/rnl.2013.0136.

The paper describes the effects of neuropsychological intervention program in a male 58 years old, right handed patient with higher formal education (specializing in pediatrics). The patient presented severe global aphasia and complete capsular right hemiplegia as a consequence of hemorrhagic stroke. The objectives of the study are: 1) to analyze and characterize the clinical neuropsychological SG from the perspective of the Luria neuropsychological school and 2) to apply a neuropsychological intervention program for overcoming psychophysiological mechanisms involved in the patient. After identifying the mechanisms underlying the patient's clinical picture began a program of rehabilitation was implemented during a year, three sessions per week, which lasted one hour each. The results of the second evaluation showed the functional reorganization of higher psychological activity of the patient, showing significant better executions in verbal communication, writing, copying and dictation, reading aloud and in the calculation.
