CARDOSO, Caroline O.  y  COTRENA, Charles. Decision making by Iowa Gambling Task: analysis of the performance variables. Neuropsicologia Latinoamericana [online]. 2013, vol.5, n.2, pp. 24-30. ISSN 2075-9479.

The Iowa Gambling Task (IGT) is an international instrument used to evaluate decision making (DM) based on somatic marker hypothesis (SMH) in neurologic and psychiatric populations as well as on studies with healthy groups. However, there are distinct aspects regarding the variables and parameters used on interpretation in studies with the IGT. In this context, the present review had the objective to present an overview of the variables and operations utilized on data interpretation on IGT and the applicability of results on clinical neuropsychology by the illustration with a case study with a post-injury patient (62-year-old, 11 years of formal education). We found impaired decision making regarding to total score, block score, frequency of selections from disadvantageous decks. Among the principal parameters used in Brazil and international studies, the most part of results used the variables total score and block score. Differences were found regarding the task performance classification as well as new measures on IGT. We highlight the importance of normative data for the IGT in national context.
