Abstract

The aim of present study was contrast the cognitive domains performance in children with the triad of difficulties Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) respect to control group. The ASD group consisted by ten males between five and fifteen years old; the control group consisted by ten males paired in age and handedness to ASD group. With the "Evaluación Neuropsicológica Infantil" (ENI) we assessed attention, perception, memory, spatial skills, construction skills, language, conceptual skills and executive functions. The ASD individuals exhibited strengthen areas in perceptual-associative task like superimposed pictures (p>0.05), pictures copy (p>0.05) and repetition of word (p>0.05). The weaknesses appear in domains that require strategy generation and integration of information like evocation words (p< 0.01), narrative coherence (p< 0.001) and similarities (p < 0.05). These cognitive characteristics are related with expression of symptoms social interaction, communication and behavioral inflexibility.
