ROCHA, Maria Cristina. Psychological duty and triage: convergences e divergences. Rev. NUFEN [online]. 2011, vol.3, n.1, pp. 119-134. ISSN 2175-2591.

The Psychological Counseling Service of the Institute of Psychology of USP has had, since its creation, an emergency psychological service that provides counseling and orientation to clients who seek psychological support. Due to the service's uniqueness, and the intimacy that most professionals in the area have with psychological screening, there is commonly confusion between these two practices. The present article discusses possible similarities and differences between the Emergency Psychological Service and the Psychological Screening. Reviewing the literature about the subject, this work points out the characteristics of each practice and describes two types of screening: the traditional and the interventional. From the analysis of their specifics, this article finds a deep difference between emergency psychological service and traditional screening, as well as points of convergence between the emergency psychological service and the interventional screening.
