This article aims to describe the experience of professionals from a Specialized Center of the Public Defender of Pará, located in the city of Belém whose mission is to ensure, for free, specialized care legal and social situation of women in domestic violence and family through a multidisciplinary team. The method used was descriptive with a critical-dialectical approach, identifying from the presentation of each activity performed by the Center, the difficulties encountered. Thus, it was found that the Center has guaranteed women the solution or minimization of demands presented and both have faced some challenges, such as the fragmentation of services that comprise the network of care for women, lack of structure and preparation of some of these services and the lack of properly trained professionals, facts that point to the need for more effective public policies to combat gender violence.
