Abstract

The main USSA's goal is to guarantee every Brazilian citizen the minimum conditions so that the family and the individual have autonomy, which focus sharpens with the Occupational Therapy purposes when it intervenes along with a person, organization or community. Considering the pertinence to create knowledge in this field, willingly rethinking the Professional practice in behalf of the community, this article presents the results from a study with the aim of knowing how the Occupational Therapy practice structures itself in the assisting gadgets entwined with the USSA in Belém. To such, the research was developed according to the presupposed of the qualitative method, with the participation of 5 occupational therapists, with whom the semi-led inquiries were applied and posteriorly analyzed. The data gathering allowed us to verify that the social Occupational Therapy, as well as the occupational therapeutic performance in the USSA in Belém, is still developing, and pointing out the diversified practice as far as the adopted procedures and the anchoring in theory which subside these practices. It was also identified some obstacles to be surpassed in the vocational training, the assisting gadgets insertion, and the acknowledgement of its role before some other professional categories that constitute the essential groups from the different assistance level which compound the USSA in Belém.
