Abstract

FARIA, Amanda Morais de  and  ROCHA, Andréia Moreira. The diving bell and the butterfly: a look under the focus of PCA. Rev. NUFEN [online]. 2012, vol.4, n.1, pp. 115-126. ISSN 2175-2591.

This article consists on a bibliographic research from the book The Diving Bell and the Butterfly by Jean-Dominique Bauby, from the viewpoint of the theoric referential of Person Centered Approach by Carl Rogers. Bauby, editor-in-chief of French magazine Elle, in December 1995, 43 years old, had a stroke, remaining in coma for twenty days and becoming the bearer of a rare syndrome, called, by medicine, of Locked-in syndrome. The objective was to analyze in what aspects the application of some concepts of the Approach can contribute to the care of people who present a reduced capacity of communication like Bauby.
