This article consists on a bibliographic research from the book The Diving Bell and the Butterfly by Jean-Dominique Bauby, from the viewpoint of the theoric referential of Person Centered Approach by Carl Rogers. Bauby, editor-in-chief of French magazine Elle, in December 1995, 43 years old, had a stroke, remaining in coma for twenty days and becoming the bearer of a rare syndrome, called, by medicine, of Locked-in syndrome. The objective was to analyze in what aspects the application of some concepts of the Approach can contribute to the care of people who present a reduced capacity of communication like Bauby. The study concludes that the attitudes oferred to the author, by two workers of the hospital, favored his development and inner growth, in the sense of his maturity, autonomy and responsability as a man.
