The changes occurred on the model and concept of Brazilian health in last decades, produced changes on the paradigm which demands a restructuration on the theoretical /practical context and on the conception of man and the health/disease of the health professionals. This theoretical study has the objective of presenting the theoretical presupposes of the Person Centered Approach and demonstrates that it is a psychological proposal which theoretically grounds the guidelines proposed by the Public Policies at the health services of Brazil. One realizes that the effectuation of the current health model implies on a posture treatment which valorizes the potential of the person and rescues their autonomy. For that, the attitudes of the unconditional positive consideration, empathy and authenticity, suggested by the Person Centered Approach, needs to be developed between the health professionals. Such attitudes also contributes with the development of interdisciplinarity and humanization, currently still far from effectuation in practice.
