Abstract

The inclusion of occupational therapy in the context of health care to the individual infected with HIV has contributed to the production of new ways of doing a clinic concerned with empowering and affirming life from the expansion of possibilities and the realization of new connections and experiences through contact with the world of art and culture. The research project aimed to broaden the discussion on the appropriation of the resources of art, by Occupational Therapy and understand how expressive activities affect the daily life of HIV-infected subject. Participants were members of the Reference Unit Infectious and Parasitic Diseases (URE DIPE) of Belem of Para. Data were collected through questionnaires, semi - structured interviews and participation in activities. Some results indicate that the experiences in the group of Occupational Therapy impacted the everyday life of the subjects, creating new settings and enabling discoveries that provided the appropriation of self and sense of well-being, which directly relates to the improvement in quality of life of these people.
