Abstract

Spirituality is an integral part of palliative care, since it promotes the life signification and the self-development, where human suffering and death get a new meaning. The article discusses the integration of spirituality in occupational therapy practice in cancer palliative care. This research showed that the care of the spiritual dimension of the human being, understood as the enrichment of everyday experiences can be an integral part of occupational therapy in palliative care, with emphasis on meaningful activities to assist them to live meaningfully to realize their projects of life and die with dignity. According to the principles of palliative care, occupational therapy serves to help patients live as actively as possible until his death, through the increased autonomy and the possibilities of doing, comprising activities as enablers of experiences the power of life.
