This article set out to do a literature review on the main theoretical references about the attempted suicide and suicidal ideation, two difficult situations increasingly recognised by the various actors involved in them, that have been the subject of several productions in the fields of Humanities and health. These studies represent the shape and the production of scientific knowledge contextualized to this season, playing the speeches about treatment and prevention actions in this mode of experience. It is of a qualitative nature research, conducted through virtual search in the databases of Capes and Scielo. Were selected and analyzed 10 works, including articles and books with publications from January 1985 to December//2014, covering three categories: suicidal ideation, suicide attempt and person-centered Approach. The studies have revealed how the human being is complex, but when there is willingness and openness, there are possibilities for change.
