Abstract

FERREIRA, Rafael Bastos. Phenomenology of landscape: prolegomena to a geography of essences. Rev. NUFEN [online]. 2017, vol.9, n.2, pp. 63-74. ISSN 2175-2591.

The article seeks to reflect on the possibilities of a phenomenology of landscape in geographic science by means of some phenomenological orientations. Understanding that this "category"or "dimension"is not limited in its physical form or its (historical) cumulative aspects, how can the landscape reveal itself as one express of the lifeworld? But the ontological character is not our central interest, but its essential features. To do so, we mobilize geographic science beyond its scientific character, I understand it as a science of the essences of phenomenological orientation. The landscape before these presuppositions will be questioned as a phenomenon originating from the founding relation between man and the Earth. Therefore, how is its apprehensibility and its essential forms of understanding man in the world effected? What would it mean for geographic knowledge as an antepredicative experience?

Keywords : Lebenswelt; Perception; Phenomenological Geography.
