Abstract

SANTOS, Gustavo Alvarenga Oliveira. Phenomenological-Existential Psychology and Decolonial Thought: a necessary dialogue. Rev. NUFEN [online]. 2017, vol.9, n.3, pp. 93-109. ISSN 2175-2591.  http://dx.doi.org/10.26823/RevistadoNUFEN.vol09.n03artigo16.

Decolonial Thought has called distinct knowledges to revise their epistemological basis in favor of the consideration of colonization as a historical fact and colonialism as an epistemological determinant. The dialogue that thought with Phenomenological-Existential Psychology is necessary, because the Decolonial Thought part of the epistemological foundations of the philosophical phenomenology existential and through a critical review of its assumptions, seeks to include the thought of the periphery of the world system in dialogue with the European knowledge. Therefore, it is argued that the Phenomenological- Existential Psychology should dialogue with the Decolonial Thought to broaden and revise their epistemological foundations and its praxis, especially regarding service to popular and vulnerable sections of the Latin American population. The aim of this paper is to present the Decolonial Thought and the possibilities of dialogue with the Phenomenological-Existential Psychology
