Abstract

ASSIS, Gustavo Alves Pereira de; SOARES, Ronaldo Veríssimo  and  MOTTA, Hinayana Leão. Be a sex professional transvestive: a phenomenological look. Rev. NUFEN [online]. 2018, vol.10, n.1, pp. 91-107. ISSN 2175-2591.  http://dx.doi.org/10.26823/RevistadoNUFEN.vol10(1).n04artigo27.

The work activity as a sex worker is for many transvestites a form of survival and also a source of pleasure. The present study aimed to understand the experiences of these sex workers. For this, a qualitative research was carried out with phenomenological method. A phenomenological interview with two collaborators. Data were collected via portable sound recorder, with full transcription. The analysis followed the three steps of phenomenological reflexivity, which are description, reduction and interpretation. Fifteen units of meaning were found, six of which are essential constituents. The results point to the positive and negative experiences in being a professional transvestite of sex, as affective experiences, perception of the entry into the world of prostitution due to lack of opportunities in the labor market, positive perception of the relevance of money in the profession and awareness of the risks of the profession. It concludes that the collaborators experiences are experienced as experiential dualities, constituting a phenomenal departure.

Keywords : Phenomenological Psychology; Sexuality; Sex Work; Travestility.
