The article describes the itinerary of the creative process of modeling the research object of a thesis project and presents a symbolic composition, inspired by the elements of nature, that resulted in a proposition of occupational therapy hybridized with the arts. The methodology of the elements is a dilation of the symbolic dimension of the object, in which the researchers are stimulated to give way to a poetic adventure, through the representation of the elements. The earth element is cartography, fire is care, air is art, water is the body and ether is the poetic act. This channel of inspiration was an instrument of visibility of the poetics and opening of an inventive movement in the exercise of the theoretical act and of facilitating a process of empowerment permeated by modes of expression of the scientific discourse
