Abstract

BANDEIRA, Célia Cristina de Albuquerque; SCHMIDT, Luciana Machado; GRUNEWALD, Virginia  and  FIALHO, Francisco Antônio Pereira. The relationship between the self system and the layers of neurosis in gestalt therapy. Rev. NUFEN [online]. 2018, vol.10, n.2, pp. 91-107. This essay is a theoretical study that aims to bring together the concepts of Gestalt Therapy "self system" and "layers of neurosis". Both categories are fundamental in the Gestalt Therapy theoretical-methodological corpus. We relate the cliché layer to the introjection; the games layer to the projection; the impasse layer to the confluence; the implosive layer to the retroflexion; and the explosive layer to the egotism. The integration made here can be considered a relevant theoreticalmethodological tool for Gestalt-Therapy scholars and psychotherapists in their clinical practice. The results obtained contribute to both processes of psychodiagnosis and of psychotherapy, since they clarify how the specific contact dysfunctions for each layer can be maintained in the neurotic repetition, as well as how the contact functions can serve as a basis in each layer for the resolution of the neurotic conflict, that is, for the exit from repetition and the return to the creative flow.

Keywords : Self; Neurosis; Gestalt Therapy; Psychodiagnosis; Clinical Practice.
