Abstract

GASPAR, Fabíola Mansur Polito  and  ABREU, Elise Haas de. Limits on the education of children: challenges and possibilities from a gestalt perspective. Rev. NUFEN [online]. 2018, vol.10, n.2, pp. 144-164. ISSN 2175-2591.  http://dx.doi.org/10.26823/RevistadoNUFEN.vol10.n02ensaio39.

An informal chatting circle of fifth grade elementary school children's parents has shown that coping with limits and frustations in the relationship with their children can be a challenging and distressing matter. This review aims at expanding the prospects of how to think about and deal with the parentschildren relationship, looking towards a healthy emotional and relational growth. The methodology used is the narrative review - a bibliographic research - based on Gestalt Therapy's main concepts about human development. We present some experiences to better concatenate the theoretical framework with supportive guidance to the parents, or those responsible for the children's upbringing. As a result, the importance of respecting children in their genuine reception needs and helping them learn to cope with limits and frustrations are highlighted as essential aspects in their development.
