Abstract

MARTINS, Rita de Cássia Andrade. Psychiatric reforms and the process of resignification of work in mental health. Rev. NUFEN [online]. 2019, vol.11, n.2, pp. 96-116. ISSN 2175-2591.  http://dx.doi.org/10.26823/RevistadoNUFEN.vol11.n02ensaio50.

This article deals with the process of resignification of work in mental health, considering that this process is the result of disputes and discursive clashes between the different agents that compose this field. Therefore, the author rescues the centrality of the work in the therapy of madness on the moral treatment of Philippe Pinel; work as a means of subjective expression in the therapeutic workshops of Nise da Silveira and the work as right and citizenship in the social cooperatives of Franco Basaglia. The article also highlights the contributions of the solidarity economy in the process of re-signification of work in psychosocial care, as well as their impasses and their emancipatory and resistance potential in defense of the psychiatric anti-asylum reform.

Keywords : Work; Psychiatric Reforms; Public policy; Anti-asylum moviment; Solidarity economy.
