Abstract

The objective of the research was to identify and describe how medicinal plants used by people from the Comunidade Quilombola do Abacatal, in Ananindeua (PA), as well as the forms of use and their indications for the treatment of diseases and cultural practices. In order to make possible a research of this research, the methodological path was developed by bibliographical, documentary and field researches. A field survey included the following data collection instruments: applications of 70 questionnaires to residents of 70 community residences; informal conversations; participant observation; and photographic records. The data were tabulated and erased, in tables, without the Statistical Package of Software for the Social Sciences (SPSS), in English: statistical package for the social sciences and in graphs in Microsoft Excel 2010. More removed by residents is from remedies homemade this sense, evidenced by the 122 different species of plants, belong to the community, at least, of all species. The transmission of knowledge is carried out in the community itself, historically, between the generations.
