The environmental question arises among the Gadamer's main themes from the 1970s. To rethinking the environmental issue, from the hermeneutic perspective, Gadamer suggests a new approach considering not only the environmental crisis, but a renewed relationship with the environment itself, in different levels. Therefore, thinking about the question interpretatively means, in large extent, proposing an interpretive ecology, which means offering a philosophical treatment to the problem. Thus, this article intends to situate the environmental issue as a hermeneutic problem, pointing out, in general, its main theoretical developments, in terms of a hermeneutic ecology or ecohermeneutic.
