Abstract

LINS, Maria Judith Sucupira da Costa  and  MIRANDA, Bruna Rodrigues Cardoso. Ethics and Freedom: Dealing with Conflicts in the School Environment. Rev. NUFEN [online]. 2020, vol.12, n.1, pp. 143-157. ISSN 2175-2591.  http://dx.doi.org/10.26823/RevistadoNUFEN.vol12.nº01ensaio56.

Ethics and freedom are fundamental attitudes for the development of the person, contribute to social harmony and should be encouraged in the school environment. This article mentions some currents that distort the concept of Freedom. It proposes, then, an ethical reflection and a philosophical deepening on the concept of Freedom, based fundamentally on the philosopher Jacques Maritain. From this understanding, it aims to identify if and how this reflection is capable of helping to reduce conflicts in the school environment, more specifically, violence. It can be said that Freedom is a fundamental part of the human being, because it is directly related to reason and conscience. The real understanding of its meaning is fundamental to guide man in search of the common good.

Keywords : Freedom; Ethics; School Violence.
