Abstract

NOGUEIRA, Laura Soares Martins; OLIVEIRA, Paulo de Tarso Ribeiro de  and  BELLOC, Márcio Mariath. Safety and Health at Work and Ethical Suffering. Rev. NUFEN [online]. 2020, vol.12, n.2, pp. 41-61. ISSN 2175-2591.  http://dx.doi.org/10.26823/RevistadoNUFEN.vol12.nº02artigo65.

This article presents an analysis based on the workers speech associated with reflections based on the theory of Work Psychodynamics and on authors who dialogue with the Sociology of Work, on how health and safety management is subjectively experienced by workers of a company in the aluminum production chain installed in northern Brazil. In the qualitative research, the collective interview and Sense Core Analysis were used as a methodological proposal. Workers were heard about what they do/did in their work. They reported suffering for experiencing actions in which safety and health are submitted to the logic of production, highlighting situations of ethical suffering. This suffering is the result of an organizational culture that favors the rules of safety at work, at the same time that production forces the non-compliance with the same rules
