This article presents two ways in which vitalism of Christian origin influences and underlies contemporary psychology. The term vitalism is conceptualized according to the understanding of Enrique Dussel's philosophy of liberation, which relates it to Semitic humanism. Then, it demonstrates how Christian vitalism is appreciated in the thinking of Michel Henry, French philosopher who bases a certain phenomenological psychology and Wilhelm Reich, main author of Corporal Psychology. The text argues that vitalism as a philosophical and cultural movement brings an ethics that goes beyond the Greek view of man, inaugurating a type of humanism that allows empathy and compassion, attitudes that concern Christian ethics. In conclusion, the thoughts of the two authors, Reich and Henry, are compared, demonstrating how each of them answers the question of duality: world and life, according to Henry, and Life and mysticism, according to Reich
