The objective of this article is to describe and analyze the living conditions of Haitians and understand their implications for the mental health of these women, an exploratory type research was carried out, using qualitative and quantitative instruments. 38 Haitians, living in a neighborhood of Aparecida de Goiânia, participated in the study, who answered the sociodemographic questionnaires: SRQ-20, WHOQOL-breef and were submitted to semi-structured interviews, whose contents were analyzed with the help of the WebQDA software. It was found that most of the participants are between 20 and 30 years old, have elementary school level, are married, have children in Brazil and Haiti, have been in the country for over a year and less than five years, do not speak Portuguese, are unemployed. Unemployment was the main factor of psychological suffering and establishing good relations with Brazilians was the main factor of protection for mental health. Despite the difficulties, most Haitians have a perception of wellbeing living in this country
