Abstract

MUHL, Camila. The therapeutic itinerary of the person with mental disorder: points of inflection. Rev. NUFEN [online]. 2020, vol.12, n.3, pp. 198-216. ISSN 2175-2591.  http://dx.doi.org/10.26823/RevistadoNUFEN.vol12.nº03artigo81.

The therapeutic itinerary is the path that a person develops in search of help for a disease, which includes different care options, many of them simultaneous, as well as engagements and treatment abandonments. The way that each person follows this trajectory in search of health is unique, anchored in their previous experiences and in the way they experience this disease. In view of this multiplicity of possible paths, this phenomenological study sought to investigate what are the turning points of the therapeutic itinerary of people with mental disorders. The research was carried out with 20 people diagnosed with mental disorders being seen at a Psychosocial Care Center in the metropolitan region of Curitiba (Paraná / Brazil). Among the situations that changed the therapeutic itinerary, we found: referrals between health services, the cost of treatment, social interactions and adverse situations. There is no single and correct path in relation to TI, so, knowing the specifics of these paths, health decision making is better understood and how people move through the care networks
