Abstract

LANGARO, Fabíola  and  SCHNEIDER, Daniela Ribeiro. Sartrean existencialism contributions to paliative oncological care. Rev. NUFEN [online]. 2021, vol.13, n.1, pp. 17-40. ISSN 2175-2591.

This article presents theoretical reflections on the contributions of Sartrean existentialism to end-of-life cancer patients and their families. The product of the bibliography analysis was arranged in categories. Results indicate that, from a Sartrean perspective, actions of mediation for patients and their families should be emphasized, in order to reformulate and make their projects of being feasible, since the perspective of death is not an obstacle to freedom, but it does give new contours to it. Thus, the process of dying is still one of the dimensions of life and, therefore, it is not synonymous with death. This understanding can bring dignity to this final stage of living, which is an important line of work for psychologists and health professionals.
