Abstract

LOPES, Fernanda Gomes; LIMA, Maria Juliana Vieira  and  MELO, Anna Karynne. Palliative Care: Possible Contributions from Gestalt-therapy . Rev. NUFEN [online]. 2021, vol.13, n.3, pp. 105-115. ISSN 2175-2591.

ABSTRACT Palliative care seeks to promote comprehensive care for patients and their families, with a focus on quality of life and dignity to die. The aim of the article is to discuss palliative care based on Gestalt therapy, which is a phenomenological-existential approach. The relationship between man and world is thought of in its entirety and, all its dimensions are valued. The idea of health in Gestalt-therapy focuses on the subject's mobilization and an awareness of himself and his relationships, which allows professionals to have an expanded conception of the relationship between man and health, with care processes guided by a dialogical relationship. We understand that the Gestalt view enables a critical discussion about health, care and the relationship between professionals, patients and family members, pointing out elements that contribute to the construction of another way of caring.

Keywords : Gestalt-Therapy; health.
