Abstract

SILVA, Maria de Nazareth Rodrigues Malcher de Oliveira; SOUSA, Hillary Pereira Marinho de  and  SOUZA, Camila Rosa Santos de. Functional health as a strategy for psychosocial rehabilitation. Rev. NUFEN [online]. 2022, vol.14, n.1, pp. 1-12. ISSN 2175-2591.

Research. The International Classification of Functioning and Health describes health, its states, in a standardized and universal language. However, its implementation occurs slowly in Brazilian public health policies, especially in mental health, even understanding that mental disorders bring damage to the various dimensions of a person. In this sense, the objective of this study was to present two ways of using this classifier, in a context in the field of mental health, configuring the relevance of functional health in psychosocial rehabilitation. The article was carried out using an exploratory qualitative approach, in four stages: (1) study of the literature on the subject, (2) the use of a form with a service user; (3) data processing, analysis and triangulation; and (4) reflection on the use of the ICF in mental health, presenting challenges and benefits. The literature showed articles on mental health, but studies on the use in services are relevant, as occurred in the empirical stage in which it allowed to trace the functional profile of the individual and define significant areas beyond the remission of symptoms. In this way, it evidenced that this classifier can be a strategic instrument in the daily life of the services of the psychosocial rehabilitation model, due to its multidimensional approach to the person
