Abstract

DIAS, André Bomfim; SILVA, Luís Augusto Vasconcelos da  and  WELBY-BORGES, Marcus. Clinical evaluation of religious experiences: conceptions of health, training and professional practice. Rev. NUFEN [online]. 2022, vol.14, n.2, pp. 1-11. ISSN 2175-2591.

In order to analyze how the concepts of health present in national studies on the differentiation between healthy and pathological religious experiences can affect professional training and practice, searches were carried out in the Virtual Health Library, Institutional Repository of the Federal University of Juiz de Fora and Google Scholar, using the descriptors "spiritual experiences", "possession", "differential diagnosis", "mediumship" and "dissociation". Applying the selection criterion "works that discuss guidelines for differential diagnosis", a set of eighteen productions was obtained and a narrative literature review was carried out. The notion of health as the ability to overcome a crisis and institute a new order was the most prevalent and an important advance was observed in research regarding the analysis of the relationship between diagnosis, subjectivity and culture. It could be seen that the national production favors the training of professionals who are critical of the pathologization of the religious and the re-humanization of care.

Keywords : Training of Health Professionals; Spirituality; Religiosity; Religious Experiences; Psychopathology.
