Abstract

BORGES, Claudia Daiana  and  FARIA, Jeovane Gomes de. Social Networks and Mental Health Care: A Literature Review. Rev. Psicol. IMED [online]. 2017, vol.9, n.1, pp. 159-174. ISSN 2175-5027.  http://dx.doi.org/10.18256/2175-5027.2017.v9i1.1798.

This paper aimed to raise, analyze and discuss studies of the Brazilian Psychiatric Reform and the Mental Health Care based on Psychosocial Model, guiding such discussion on models of social networks with theoretical framework of systemic-new paradigmatic approach. It consisted of a theoretical research with data collection in the following databases: PsycInfo, MEDLINE, SciELO, Virtual Health Library, BIREME and Lilacs. Were found and selected 33 productions published between 1984 and 2014, divided into 23 scientific papers, seven dissertations, two doctoral theses and one course conclusion monograph. We found a weakness of inter-institutional relations, a lack of specific training and culture of the professionals to work in the context of networks, making it important to reflect on models of psychosocial care in mental health from the concept of social network. The new-paradigm systemic-cybernetic perspective as theoretical framework appears as a possibility to develop a constructivist approach, focused on an attention directed to inter-subjective understanding of the subject and their social support network, with direction to lower dependence of users in relation to professionals.

Keywords : social networks; mental health; systemic-cybernetics theory.
