BARBOSA, Thamires Pereira; CORREA, Mikael Almeida; ZIMMER, Marilene  y  PALUDO, Simone dos Santos. Schema Domains Presented by Women in Marital Violence Situation. Rev. Psicol. IMED [online]. 2019, vol.11, n.2, pp. 51-68. ISSN 2175-5027.  http://dx.doi.org/10.18256/2175-5027.2019.v11i2.2982.

To better understand the violence against women dynamics, it's interesting to investigate cognitive aspects that may hinder victims from breakthrough the violence cycle. Based on Jeffrey Young's theory, such aspects may refer to the Early Maladaptive Schemas (EMS's) and their respective schema domains. This study aims to identify schema domains and types of violence suffered in a group of women. The research was made with a group of women at the psychological emergency attendance of a Women's Care Police Station, located in Rio Grande do Sul (Brazil). Sixteen women victims of marital violence answered the Young Schema Questionnaire (YSQ-S3) and the service protocol questionnaire. Hypervigilance/inhibition and Disconnection/rejection domains were the two highest scores. The characteristics of the EMS's that integrate the domains may hinder the women empowerment in face of violence. Thus, the findings of this study may indicate possibilities of psychological assistance to women victims of marital violence by describing and analyzing the cognitive dilemmas experienced by them.

Palabras clave : violence against women; psychological emergency attendance; schema therapy; early maladaptive schemas.
