The aim of this paper is to provide basis to undergraduate and postgraduate students about the different approaches in Social Psychology and point out some criticism of its teaching. To reach this goal, we locate the discipline within the context of the detachment of social from natural science in the end of XIX century. After that, we make a didactic presentation of the most prominent approaches in the discipline, showing when they emerged and their origins, the "crisis"; of Social Psychology in the 1960s and discuss about the more contemporary approaches, including those used in Latin America and Brazil. Finally, we conclude pointing out some questions of its teaching within the Brazilian Psychologies' courses.
