In this text, I approach the questioning that has been done to education regarding to its high dropout rate, and in its participation in the containment of the violence that we have witnessed in the world and at schools. I present the guidelines of UNESCO (2003) for a new education in the twenty-first century, noting that this important publication leaves open the psychological factors involved in learning, living together and aggression. I analyze such issues left open, taking as a starting point the importance they have for the psychoanalysis point of view. I conclude by showing the influence of the unconscious present in education, including in this analysis the difficult answer on the existence of an education that facilitates sublimation, pointing to the position of unveiling of ideals.
