The University and Psychoanalysis have birth stories and different development. Despite their different origins, the contact between them has been developed, permeated by interdisciplinary dialogues, questions and tensions. What are the effects of this contact at both institutions? Following this direction, this work reflected on the relationship between Psychoanalysis and the University in its activities and dialogue. From experiential and historical data, and from texts of Freud and Lacan, it pointed to some difficulties and effects of this relationship, like: demand of analysis and of analytic training, theoretical enrichment of Psychoanalysis and other fields of knowledge. It concluded emphasizing the extra-academic character of training analyst and the importance of the warned presence of Psychoanalysis in the University and in other places where other knowledge and practices circulate, where the dialogue can be fruitful.
