Abstract

SOUZA JR, Paulo Sérgio de. Poetry, Love and the Failure of the Unconscious. Trivium [online]. 2014, vol.6, n.2, pp. 09-15. ISSN 2176-4891.

In the XIth century India it was already stated that poetry works on us like a beloved, capable of transporting us beyond ourselves, beyond everyday world. One has heard the eco of this statement in Jacques Lacan's works, where he understands poetry as subversion of the crystallized order in language, as intervention on the order of the semblant. Especially in Seminar 24 (L 'insu..., 1976-77), associated to courtly love, poetry will offer him the opportunity to theorize about love itself, based on the idea that it is precisely the failure of the unconscious.

Keywords : unconscious; failure; love; poetry.
